We read books in winter; we knit in memories.
As part of the implementation of the “Reading School” project, during the winter vacation from December 29 to January 7 of the 2025-2026 academic year, students of grades 3 “B”, 5 “A”, 6 “A” of secondary school No. 176 together with their mothers organized a family reading hour called “We read books in winter, we weave memories”. A unique event that brings the hearts of children and mothers closer, reading fairy tales as a family on quiet and kind winter evenings not only stimulates the child’s imagination and enriches his vocabulary, but also strengthens the bonds between mother and child.
The main goal of this event is to bring mothers and children closer to books and provide spiritual education through joint reading. During the event, children read aloud fairy tales of their choice with their mothers. After reading, each student explains the content of the fairy tale in their own words and shares stories that made a good impression on them.
Mothers also listen to and happily observe their children’s thinking skills, speech culture, and level of understanding of the text. Such shared reading moments increase the child’s confidence and awaken his love for books.
“We read books in winter, we weave them in our memories” is not just a reading hour, it is a wonderful tradition full of warmth, kindness, and knowledge. A great opportunity to spend winter evenings meaningfully and travel to the world of fairy tales.
